RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE A WAXING APPOINTMENT
General - Avoid tanning beds and sunbathing for at least 48hrs prior to appointment.
Antibiotic use is contraindicated within two weeks. Please wait at least 6 months after stopping Accutane treatment before scheduling a wax. Body Waxing Services - Exfoliate skin every other day for a week prior to waxing (not for facial waxing ) and moisturize daily. Frequent exfoliation frees hairs that have a thin layer of skin covering them and makes removal easier. Facial Waxing Services - Make sure that skin is well hydrated by applying a facial moisturizer or oil daily before your appointment. Dry skin is more likely to experience irritation. Discontinue use of topical prescription retinoids (Renova, Retin-a, Differin etc ), products containing retinol, and alpha/beta hydroxy acids ( glycolic, lactic, salicylic) at least one week prior to waxing. Optional - Tylenol may be taken 30-45min before an appointment to minimize discomfort. I advise against taking ibprophen (Advil), naproxen (Aleve) or products containing aspirin as they thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising. Taking an over the counter analgesic is completely optional, I only mention it since I have quite a few clients that say it helps take the edge off any discomfort. |
POST WAXING CARE
It is important to let the skin cool down after a wax. The hair follicles are more susceptible to irritation or infection immediately after waxing. Avoid the following for 24 hours unless otherwise noted:

INTERIM CARE BETWEEN WAX APPOINTMENTS
It is important to take care of your skin in-between waxing appointments . It does take a little extra time and effort but the results are worth it. Hair removal is much easier and the results last longer when the skin is exfoliated and moisturized regularly . If you are prone to ingrown hairs, begin applying a product daily to prevent and treat them (such as Tend Skin) , starting 24hrs after your wax. Sugar scrubs are also great to use a couple times a week to keep the follicle clear of dead skin as the hair grows back. Lastly, keep the skin hydrated by applying lotion or oil daily.
